Russia to take measures against Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia over EU deals

MOSCOW, July 7 -- Russia will take measures against Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia over their association agreements with the European Union (EU), Prime Minister Dmirty Medvedev said Monday.

The EU signed the agreements with the three countries in Brussels on June 27. And the Moldovan parliament ratified the document Wednesday.

"Obviously, this will seriously affect (Moldova`s) trade-economic relations with its international partners, including the Customs Union`s countries and members of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) free trade zone," Medvedev told a government meeting.

The Eurasian Common Economic Space (CES), created by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in 2012, planned to discuss possible protective measures on July 16, Medvedev said.
