Opera troupes help educate villagers

A village opera troupe performs "A Fool Pays a New Year`s Call" in Wendeng, East China`s Shandong province on Sept 19, 2011. The play, drawing material from the common theme of conflicts between a woman and her mother-in-law, or a woman and her daughter-in-law, aims to educate villagers in respecting the elderly. As the play is gaining a wider audience, some say quarrels between in-laws have gradually decreased. There are more than 400 such troupes in the countryside of Wendeng city. [Photo/Xinhua]
