Shandong University, one of China`s top ten universities, is preparing for its 110th anniversary celebration that falls on October 15 this year.

Academic and cultural activities will be held in the coming month, including a seminar on China`s image between Shandong University and Harvard, a summit for presidents of worldwide leading medical colleges, an engineering seminar participated by representatives from Japan, ROK and China and a calligraphy and painting exhibition.

The construction of a new branch school of Shandong University will begin in Qingdao on the same day. The college expects to receive students in 2014 and provide courses on technology, science and the marine economy.

"With a century-old history and its unique campus culture, Shandong University`s academic standards and education competitiveness are continuously approving, aiming to be ranked among the world`s top 100 universities in 10 years," said Li Jianjun, vice president of the university.

Shandong University was built in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in 1901. It is one of China`s key comprehensive universities with a full range of subjects and strong scientific research abilities.
