The Beijing-Shanghai Railway Express scheduled to open next month is expected to bring a daily passenger flow of 100,000 people to Jinan, Shandong, according to Lv Hua, director of the planning office for the western Jinan.

As a main stopover along the Beijing-Shanghai railway express route, major construction at the Jinan West Station is now ready to accommodate a large amount of passenger flow.

The Jinan West Station consists of three above-ground floors and two floors underground.

Passengers can enjoy easy access to bus stations, taxi stops, parking lots and coach stations, according to Lv Hua.

"All of the transportation facilities are equipped within 100 meters of the main hall of Jinan West Station," Lv said.

Jinan is working hard on landscaping the station`s adjacent area in a bid to showcase its charm to passengers.

Efforts will be put into building six functional centers including the cultural center and the exhibition center, according to Lv.

The new railway express is very fast. It runs at 300 km per hour and will shorten the trip from Beijing to Jinan to an hour and a half and the trip between Jinan and Shanghai to three hours.
