DNV assists Shandong in fulfilling a sustainable agenda

A workshop on enterprise risk management and corporate responsibility, focusing on the sustainability goals of the new Five Year Plan, was held on March 21 in Jinan, Shandong province.

The one-day workshop was held by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), the world’s leading provider of risk management and sustainable solutions, together with the Shandong Provincial Development & Reform Commission. It attracted about 100 participants, including government officials and top corporate management.

Last August, DNV signed an agreement with the Central Government’s Training Centre of the National Development & Reform Commission to promote a program of risk management services nationwide. Shandong, due to its rapid development and its readiness to apply advanced concepts, has been selected to be the first location of the program.

"Shandong is an open province with developed industries. In alignment with Shandong’s development agenda, DNV is ready to share its experience in selecting tools and methodologies for complex decision making needed for sustainable goals,” said Per Marius Berrefjord, Managing Director of the DNV Sustainability Center.

The benefits of a risk-based approach are to increase the probability that reform efforts are targeted in the most productive direction, and with implementation that is as efficient and effective as possible.

DNV, established in 1864 in Norway, is a multinational provider of risk management and sustainability services. Its partnerships and competencies are mainly focused on sectors of maritime, oil and gas, finance, healthcare and IT.
