Cultural arts center to be established in Tai’an

In a major step forward for the city’s cultural industry, a Cultural Arts Center is to be established in Tai’an, Shandong province, according to an announcement made on December 26.

A number of senior officials attended the project foundation laying ceremony including the Party Chief Yang Luyu and the Mayor Li Hongfeng, who delivered a speech.

Li said that the construction of the center was not only a reflection of the significance the government attached to its culture industry, but was also crucial to improving city amenities. The center would also put the city in an advantageous position when it came to hosting major events such as the 10th China Art Festival in 2013.

He also called for cooperation between related government sectors to accelerate the construction progress.

The 60,000-square-meter center will provide local citizens with comprehensive entertainment services including a library, art museum, gallery and a theater.
