 (chinapic.people.com.cn) Erenhot is one of the earliest cities recorded in the international paleontology chronicles for discovering dinosaur fossils. Starting from the 1890s, paleontologists and geologists in China and from all over the world have investigated and excavated in this area for six times and found more than 10 kinds of dinosaur fossils including Euhelopus, Hadrosaur, Ornithomimus, Ankylosaurus and Ceratopsian and so on. The discovery of the Gigantoraptor Erlianensis fossil has been recorded into the Guinness World Records and was awarded as one of the “10 Greatest Natural Science Discovery” in 2007. The fossil has been listed into the world’s top eight famous fossils. Therefore, Erenhot can be called the hometown of dinosaur.
The 80-meter-wide “Dinosaur Door” consists of two giant dinosaur sculptures. The two dinosaur sculptures represent “harmony, friendship and love”. Entering the “Dinosaur Door”, it’s the Dinosaur View Road where many dinosaur sculptures are in display, with many different shapes such as running, playing, eating and hugging.
