Shanghai Chinese Orchestra to bring musical feast to HK

HONG KONG, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Shanghai Chinese Orchestra will hold two concerts in the New Year in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government said Friday.

According to the city`s Information Services Department, the orchestra will perform a Lunar New Year show at Sha Tin Town Hall on Jan. 6, featuring festive, rousing music to help ring in the Year of the Dragon.

The show at Tsuen Wan Town Hall on Jan. 7 will feature guest artists from various ethnic groups, creating a wonderful tapestry of music, symbolizing the harmony and unity of the Chinese race.

Founded in 1952, the orchestra has become known for its lyrical timbre, distinguished style and virtuosity. It has given two Lunar New Year concerts in the Golden Hall at Vienna`s Wiener Musikverein and is often invited to perform for visiting heads of state and dignitaries.
