Since the first session held in Hawaii, 1976, this event has been held every two years for 18 sessions in succession. This event is called “Jewel on the Crown of International Seaside Cities” because of its venues, which are always tourist resort with beaches such as San Roque sun coast in Spain, Airlie Beach in Australia, Mandela Bay in South Africa and capital of Fiji Suva.

In January 1st and March 19th, the International Triathlon Union and General Administration of Sport of China replied separately and the 2010 Weihai Long Distance Triathlon World Cup Series was confirmed to be held from September 25 to 26, 2010.

By then, 500 athletes at home and abroad will participate in the event. And at present, professional athletes from 6 countries including Britain, France, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have entered the competition.
