Shandong Provincial People''s Government is made up of 42 agencies - the General Office and 25 other component departments, an ad hoc agency directly under the Government, and 16 agencies directly under the Government. The Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission has its office work combined together with the Provincial Department of Supervision and is listed among the agencies of the provincial government, but not counted among provincial government agencies. The General Office of Shandong Provincial People''s Government is also called Counselors'' Office of the Shandong Provincial People''s Government. The Office of Provincial Committee for Establishing Government Organizations is a permanent office under the Committee and conducts its daily affairs together with the Provincial Department of Personnel under the same roof. The Provincial Department of Land and Resources has another name of Provincial Bureau of Surveying and Mapping. The Shandong Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Provincial Bureau of Religious Affairs are the same agency with different names. The Provincial Department of Culture is also named Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, and the Provincial Press and Publication Bureau is also called Provincial Copyright Bureau.

There are four agencies set under the management of the provincial departments - the Provincial Government Survey & Research Office under the management of the General Office of Shandong Provincial People''s Government, the Provincial Commodity Price Bureau and Grain Bureau under the management of Provincial Reform and Development Commission, and Provincial Prison Management Bureau under the Provincial Department of Justice. There are one permanent agency set under a consultancy and coordination agency, that is, the Provincial People''s Air Defense Office which is a permanent agency under the Provincial National Defense Mobilization Commission and also a competent authority for air defense in the provincial government.
