Mountain climbing competitors and fans of different ages from various regions and countries will head to Tai`an, Shandong province, to participate in the 25th Taishan Mountain International Climbing Festival on Sept 6.

The weeklong festival includes an international mountain climbing invitational tournament, a jogging competition around Taishan Mountain, an investment and trade talk, the 2011 Taishan MAO International Rock Festival and a series of tourist and cultural activities.

The opening ceremony of the festival will begin with a song and dance performance at 8:00 pm on Sept 6 at Taishan Stadium.

Celebrities from Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland will perform at the show, including Taiwan singers Zheng Zhihua and Huang An, the S wing band and Zhu Zhiwen, who is reputed as Chinese Uncle Susan.

The festival, having been held annually since 1987, has become a stage for friends from all over the world to communicate and befriend each other.
