The 5th Gold Festival has come to a close in Zhaoyuan, with project contracts worth 7.16 billion yuan ($1.12 billion) and 18 cooperative agreements from Aug 27 to Aug 30. Four out of the eighteen signed projects, with a total investment of $41.85 million, are foreign-funded. With a theme of "Promote Zhaoyuan`s gold tourism into a strong economy", the 5th Gold Festival held a series of activities, including gold product trade talks, promotion conferences, seminars, a folk culture show and a cooperation signing ceremony. Located in eastern Shandong province, Zhaoyuan is now a famous gold producing and processing center in China boasting one seventh of nation`s total annual gold output. The city was named China`s Gold City by the China Gold Association in 2002. Zhaoyuan`s industries include gold exploration, selection, refining, processing, gold product designing and research.
