Muping district--a rising coastal eco-city in east Yantai

Muping, a coastal eco-city in east Yantai, Shandong province, is conducting a batch of ecological project construction.

"More than 100 billion yuan has been invested in the 60–square-kilometer long coastal areas. The projects include tourism, exhibition, software and service outsourcing and, biological medicine. When they are finished, Muping will become a new coastal city” said Jiang Zuojun, head of Muping’s publicity department.

Four parts are planned to be built in the coastal eco-city. They are: a coastal eco-city starting area, Yangma Island resort, Jinshan Bay resort and an aquatic ecosystems landscape area.

"The eco-coastline is our valuable asset. Muping is to revitalize marine economy through green economic development,” said Wang Zhong, secretary-general of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Muping committee.

Muping has invested 1.5 billion yuan in protecting and exploring Yuniao River and Qinshui River to accelerate the new coastal city construction since 2009. By the end of this year, a 5.66-million-square-meter green area will be added.

With an investment of over 10 billion yuan, Yantai international wine trade center will be constructed into the world’s fourth biggest world wine trading center that combines functions of wine trade, auction, quality inspection, tasting, wine R&D, education and culture communication.

The project area that will start this year attains 1.6 million square meters.
